Scrapbook Crop!

What a great success our very first scrapbook crop was on Sunday!

Thanks to some of our wonderful customers who requested that we held scrapbook crops at the shop and helped us to get the ball rolling.

Our first 'free' crop took place on Sunday (1 - 3pm) and due to its success, we shall be running another 'free' crop on Sunday 26th January, also 1 - 3 pm.  If you want to pop your name down for this crop, just give us a call on 01224 802337.  All you need to do is bring along your tool kit and page/s you are working on.  The idea is to share ideas, pages and inspiration with others!  Perhaps come January, you will be working on some of your Christmas layouts.

Here are some of our scrapbookers who came along.

And, here is Jean, who helped to get this crop off the ground.

And some of the layouts our crafter's were working on.

Isn't she adorable!

Remember, the next crop is on Sunday 26th January!
This Thursday is Craft Night, last one of 2013.  Check back next week to see what we all got up to!

Machine Demonstration Night - in aid of Archway!

What a successful evening we had on Thursday, all in the name of charity!
A couple of months ago, Charlotte came up with the wonderful idea of holding a charity craft night in aid of Archway, our chosen charity for 2013.  With feedback from customers, who wanted to be able to try out different die-cutting machines, it was decided that this special fund raising evening would be based around this theme.

Crafters got to use the Sizzix Big Shot, Cuttlebug, Grand Calibur and the X Cut Xpress.

The evening was a great success and lots of fun!  We raised almost £300 which has helped us get even nearer to our £5,000 target for the year!

We also welcomed a brand new crafter on Thursday, who had never made a card before and had wondered what all the fuss was about!  Well, this lovely lady was absolutely delighted with the cards she made and is now embarking on a new hobby!

Here are some photographs from our charity evening.

Jean was demonstrating the Sizzix Big Shot.

Some embossing and die-cutting with the Cuttlebug to make tags.

Charlotte was demonstrating the Grand Calibur along with the Big Shot.

Pearl was demonstrating the X Cut Xpress.

Thank you to all you lovely crafters who came along and helped to raise funds for Archway!

Interested in scrapbooking? Read on ...

We have lots of enquiries requesting scrapbooking classes/crop.  So, with that in mind, a scrapbooking crop has been arranged with some keen scrapbookers, at the Papeterie on Sunday 24th November, between 1 and 3pm.

Initially, there will be no charge for the room hire for this crop.  The aim of this, is for like-minded people who scrapbook, or who are starting out in scrapbooking, to come along, share ideas and perhaps help each other with their layouts.  If this proves successful, it is hoped that these crops could run once a month.

If you are interested in going along, why not give us a call on 01224 802337 to register your interest.  On the day, bring along your papers, photos and embellishments, along with the tools that you need.

Coming up this Thursday evening, 6.30 - 9 pm,  we have our fundraising machine night in aid or our chosen charity, Archway.  This is similar to our Craft Nights, but the aim of this evening is to allow you the opportunity to try out some of the best die-cutting machines on the market, including the Cuttlebug, Sizzix Big Shot, Spellbinders Grand Calibur, Fiskars Fuse and the X Cut Xpress.  There will be a charity raffle prize draw in aid of Archway and some fantastic offers in store!  And of course, there will be tea/coffee and a lovely buffet!

If you haven't already booked your place, just give us a call to book a place!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Inky Delights!

Wow, what a weekend of rain that was!  Just as well there was plenty to keep fellow crafters amused at The Papeterie this weekend.

On Saturday, we had our first visit from the new Personal Impressions demonstrator for the region, Lesley MacGillivray, who hails from Inverness.

Lesley was demoing the Dylusions Art Journsals Sprays and Distress Inks along with some of Tim Holtz stamps and stencils.  As you  will see from these little works of art that Lesley left, they are bright and not what you might expect to see using Tim Holtz products.

This happens to be my favourite I think!

I'm sure Lesley will be back to visit us again in the near future.  Follow our blog to keep up to date with demonstrations and classes.

Debbi will be back later in the week to show you what they got up to in her classes on Sunday!

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween arrived a little early at The Papeterie this year!  On Sunday Debbi  held a Halloween class for kids, which proved very popular!

Budding young crafters (with a little help from some grown-ups), joined Debbi to make a paper pumpkin and a rather cool Frankenstein goody bag, suitably filled with Halloween sweets of course!

The first stage of the pumpkin involved a lot of creasing and getting to grips with double sided tape (thankfully the easy lift kind)!

Then some eyes were needed, (these look like they are glowing)!

Next, a mouth and nose was needed!

And, wow!  Look how well they turned out!

And, finally, a spooky goody bag to take home some ghoulish sweets!

Finally, this Sunday, Debbi is teaching some Promarkers/Flexmarker's classes.  In the morning there is a beginners class and in the afternoon there is a next steps class.  Each class costs £15, if you wish to join either of these classes, just give the shop a call on 01224 802337 to book a place.

Busy, busy Saturday!

What an amazing Saturday!  Such a busy day and such a diverse range of crafts going on, all under one roof!

You will already have seen the magnificent range of cake decorating brought to us by Andrew, but Andrew wasn't the only one who was working hard in the store on Saturday.

Our own Kath Stewart was back to do more  of her Kath's Klub classes, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

In the morning, our lovely crafters made this wonderful coat hanger and got to keep the wonderful stamps used in the project!

Our afternoon crafters had these lovely goodies to play with, and each got to keep the embossing folders used in the projects.

And here are the cards they made, stunning projects as usual from Kath!

Thanks to Kath for letting us share her photographs.
Don't forget to check out our forthcoming classes here on our blog.  There are still lots of classes coming up before Christmas, don't delay in booking as places do fill up fast!  Give us a call on
 01224 802337 to book a place.
