Midweek Madness

What a busy day we had today - it was the last of our Ultimate Skills classes, and judging by the fabulous feedback we got, it was a huge success. We offered these classes as a special offer on Groupon last year and they've been incredibly popular, it's been great to welcome lots and lots of new faces - lots of the ladies who attended, hadn't realised we existed. But now they do, and we look forward to seeing them all again soon.

It's also been a very busy week with weddings this week - Charlotte has been creating some epic designs, but I can't let the cat out of the bag yet, you'll have to wait for her Wedding Fridays post.

And before I go, remember it's Easter weekend this weekend - but we're open as usual, so pop in to stock up on all your calorie-free treats :)

Another Year Older!

Well that's us another year older.  Can you believe it's been 7 years since the Papeterie opened its doors?

We celebrated our 7th Birthday with fantastic offers and bargains throughout the shop, including reductions on Kanban, Spellbinders, Sugar Nellie, packs of envelopes and goody bags worth around £20 for only £3!  I hope you managed to snap up a few bargains!

Of course, when there is a Birthday, there has to be a cake, well we had two, and lots of cupcakes!   Thank you to Charlottes Grandma for all her hard work in producing it all!

On Saturday we had both workshops filled with new and seasoned crafters alike!  Of course, there were a few tea/coffee breaks scheduled in so that everyone could enjoy a cake or two with a cuppa, a chat and of course time to shop!

Coming up on Friday this week (29th March) we have some spaces left on the Easter Craft Session for school aged children, in the morning, the afternoon session, however, is full.  If you wish to book a place, give us a call on 01224 802337.

Then on Saturday 30th March, we have two Craft Boot Camp workshops.  From 10am - 1pm Debbi will be running a Stamping Techniques workshop for beginners and intermediate crafters.  From 1.30pm - 4.30pm Debbi will be running an Introduction to Colour Media, using alcohol and water based markers, pencils and alcohol inks.  If you wish to book on either of these Boot Camp workshops, just phone the shop on 01224 774883 to reserve your place, spaces are limited, so don't delay!

Also next weekend, The Papeterie will be at the Dream Wedding Show at the Beach Ballroom, why not come along if you're in the market for wedding stationary!

PS.  Only 12 more sleeps until the Craft Retreat kicks off with a meet and greet over dinner on Friday 5th April, YIPPEE!

Then in the afternoon we have an Introduction to Colour Media class, where you will be shown the basics of colouring with alcohol markers (promarkers), water-based markers, pencils and inks, when and how to use each. You'll find details of all our classes here.

For any of our classes, just call the shop on 01224 802337 to reserve you place - be quick as places are limited.

And a wee news flash - we have the new Spring/Summer 2013 Promarkers in stock now!

It's Hump Day

Well we were worried for a while there that we'd have to close the shop early today, the snaw wis dingin' doon, a' fore neen! as they say around here :) which translates as - the snow was falling heavily all morning.

We've been inundated with calls and emails from readers of Sue Wilson's blog today. Sue announced on her blog that we're taking reservations for a DVD we'll be making of her demo in the shop on 6th July. It'll be perfect for all those of you who can't make it to the shop on the day, and also the perfect way to remember the day for those who will be coming. To reserve your copy please either call the shop on 01224 802337 or email us here, leaving your name and telephone number and we'll give you a call after the event.

Charlotte will be back on Friday with her Wedding Friday post :)

Counting down to our Birthday Weekend (and other things)!

Before I tell you about our plans for our Birthday Weekend, how was your Mothering Sunday?

We certainly had a wee surprise when we woke up in Aberdeen this Mothering Sunday, the snow was back, and it snowed on and off all day, however snow did not deter the crafters and brides-to-be from visting the shop today!  Did you get around to making any Mother's Day cards, or did you receive a hand crafted card or gift?

It's been a busy week in the shop with Wedding stationery and of course Craft Night on Thursday, but this hasn't stopped us from stocking up the shelves, remember to pick up some of the new stock from the Gorjuss range, the All Aboard range from Papermania, the new selection of Urban Stamps and check out the new stock from Spellbinders!

Now, what about our Birthday Weekend?  Well, to celebrate The Papeterie’s 7th Birthday, we are having a huge birthday sale. Lots of stock discounted just for the weekend, so come along and grab a bargain... or five.  FREE ENTRY!  Don't forget to put this date in your diary!

Craft Night Fun

A massive thank you to all the ladies who came to our second craft night of the year.
It proved to be just as popular as ever with spaces for our next night on
Thursday 18th April filling up fast.

I must admitt the craft nights are one of my personal favourite things we do in the shop. Not only are they great value  but because it also gives us the oppertunity to have a chance to speak to our customers and get to know them a little bit better.

One of the customers we have had the oppertunity to get to know over the past couple of craft nights is Vicki who works with create Aberdeen. Create supports adults with learning difficulties by allowing them to participate in a variety of diffrent activites such as making cards. She and her friends have been coming to the past couple of craft nights and learning some new skills which they inturn are able to pass on to those who come along to their craft classes.

Here are some pictures of cards
their group at
Sheedocksley Parish Church
have made using our
February craft night
cards as inspiration.

Want to know what's been happening in the shop?

Well, lots actually!

On Saturday we had a Groupon workshop taking place, where lots of new and seasoned crafters joined our very own team member Pearl for 5 hours of paper crafting.  Here's some of what was made at the class (thanks to Tina for the photos)!

As you can see it was a very productive day!

Also on Saturday we had the very popular and talented Kath Stewart join us for a demo and workshop using masks and paints to create textured backgrounds.  Here's what Kath got up to, aren't they fabulous? (Thank you Kath for sharing your photos)!

The weekend also saw brides-to-be having their first consultation with us, planning their stationary for their upcoming nuptials.

On Monday, we welcomed our latest addition to the Papeterie team, Sammy, who we wish a warm welcome.

Also on Monday, we made a huge start on clearing space to make our second workshop even larger!  This room will now accommodate up to 20 people!

We also had lots of deliveries on Monday, a large delivery from Crafter's Companion and a gorgeous selection of goodies from Spellbinders, oh and a little more Gorgussness arrived too!  Look out for this new stock hitting the shelves very soon!

Class lists for the Craft Retreat in April were sent out on Monday, and boy do they sound fabulous!  How does, Painting Techniques, Messy Masks, Girly Grunge and Alcohol Inks, to name just a few, sound?  I imagine the phone is going to be hot, hot, hot with everyone making their choices!

One thing before I go, the next Craft Night is this Thursday, 7th March at 6.30 pm, where the shop will be filled with crafters galore having fun making up to five projects and enjoying a discount of 10% of their purchases and lets not forget the free buffet and refreshments!  If you haven't been to one already, look out for future Craft Nights!

Gorjuss by name, Gorjuss by nature

Wow, the new Gorjuss products from DO Crafts are now in-store, along with all the other goodies DO released this month, and you are going to love them - there are notelets, paper packs, ribbons, buttons, brads, decoupage, stamps.... need I go on? and they are all, well.... GORJUSS! Why not come in and see for yourself.
The stamps are particularly special - a fantastic size for using with your favourite colouring media.  In fact a few of these naughty wee girls managed to jump into my shopping basket over the weekend and now have a new home on my crafty desk - I think you might fall in love with them and want to take some home too.

Classes, Demos and Events

Well we've managed to work out the class and events list for The Papeterie for March to May, and boy do we have loads in store for you.

We have our 7th birthday coming up this month and we'll be celebrating by having a big birthday sale, then we have a fun easter crafty afternoon for the kids on Good Friday.
We're introducing a couple of new concepts in classes this year, first up is Kath's Klub, a series of classes that you can opt in and out of - each class will feature a stamp that you get to take home for free.  The classes are taught by the inimitable Kath Stewart, our very own local celebrity crafter.

We are also starting The Papeterie Craft Boot Camp classes - these are designed for beginners and intermediate crafters.
We've also managed to persuade the boss to don her teaching cap with a DIY Wedding Stationery class and the much-asked-for Bind-It-All workshop.

And I haven't even started to tell you about the Craft Nights or free demo.
But you can check out all the info on our Classes, Demos & Events page

Unfortunately we've also had to introduce a small non-refundable deposit in order to book a place on any of our classes this year. We've had to do this because last year we had a number of people fail to turn up for classes, this prevents other people from getting a place. So please, if you can't attend a class just give us a call to let us know so that we can offer your places to someone else :)
