What's been going on this weekend ...?

... well Saturday proved to be a very busy day for the staff, with lots going on in two different locations!

Our own Debbi Glenni was busy teaching at the Discovery Awards on behalf of The Papeterie at the Beach Ballroom.  Here's a sneaky peak of what her students were up to.   I'm sure Debbi will be sharing with you the finished projects later in the week!

Debbi wasn't the only one to be teaching on Saturday.  Our very own Charlotte Mitchell was teaching a much requested Bind-it-All class.  This class proved to be very popular, helping crafters address any problems they had using the machine and giving much inspiration for future projects!  The feedback was very positive, who knows, we may persuade Charlotte to run another Bind-it-All class in the future.

Here's one of our regular crafter's, makes from the day!  Thank you Tina for sharing your photos of your wonderful projects!

Of course, Saturday and Sunday is always the busiest time for wedding appointments, so it was a busy weekend!

Wedding Friday

Hello all, im back again!

Today I'm going to use my post to show you some of the invitations we made at the DIY wedding class held a couple of weeks ago.
I do a DIY wedding class every few months.
The classes are great as they give brides the opportunity to learn how to go home and make their own wedding invitations.

The first invitation we made was a side opening wallet, great for anyone wanting to give their guests RSVP cards, menu choices or information about the wedding.

The second card is a 4 score line card a very effective design done with inspiration from the lady who invented the score board Kay Rutter.

The third card we made was a flat evening invitation. A very very simple card to make but effective never the less.
We then made a flat day invitation which was a brand new design I made just for the class.
Then we made a made a name tag and menu.

And the great thing was, that everyone who came to the class left feeling much more confident about making their own stationery. The other great thing about the DIY classes is that each person who attends is given an instruction card with all the card sizes and envelope sizes so that they know exactly what to do when they come to do it for themselves.

What's Been Going On?

Following on from Friday's blog theme of Weddings, Saturday saw us at the Bon-Accord Centre Wedding Exhibition.  It was a busy day, with lots of interest.  We look forward to seeing some of the brides who paid our stand a visit.

Remember, we don't just make stationery for weddings, if you have a special anniversary or birthday to celebrate and would like your invites etc hand made, then give us a call on 01224 802337.

Craft Night

On Thursday, we had our latest craft night, and boy was it a busy one!  It was a busy, fun evening of crafting and socialising with like-minded crafters!  Our next craft night will be on Thursday 16th May, please call if you would like to book a place, there are still a few places available.

Bind-It-All

Coming up this Saturday afternoon, 27th April, we have the eagerly awaited Bind-It-All class with our very own Charlotte Mitchell.  Charlotte will be demonstrating that the Bind-It-All can be used to make fun projects and not just for binding books!  If you haven't got yourself booked on this yet, don't hesitate, give us a call to book your place.

Please check out our other workshops/demos coming up in May here.

Wedding Friday Finally

Hello all im finally back with my wedding Friday posts.

It has been a whirl wind of phenomenal weddings in the shop lately with the wedding season being well and truely under way.

Table plans are the theme of the post today. I love table plans as they are truely unique as there is only ever one made, and for the bride its the first chance for her name to be printed with her new surname.

A typical table plan is done on a board or a frame.

However more and more brides are wanting what I call EPIC. The word that drives fear and panic into my team as it means a lot of work. Here are just a few of the EPIC table plans we made in the month of March.

The Garden gate is not given justice here was for a lovely bride Emma who just happens to be the wedding manager of a rather busy hotel in Aberdeen, seeing as she does so many wedding in a year she wanted something a little bit different and this certainly doesn't disappoint!

This table plan is a personal favourite of mine, it suited the brides pink rock and roll, vintage bling theme to perfection. It has mini replica records for tables and over 400 diamontes! Her table toppers were record sleeves featuring art work from the couples favourite songs with the track list on the back being the guests names.  She was absolutely blown away and we are so happy we could make her day a little bit more special.

The heart was a bit stressful as we had a small space to fit so many tables into while keeping the heart shape, but even if i do say so myselef I think we have done a good job of it.

And I promise ill be back next friday with some pictures from my DIY wedding class and maybe the date for the next one

Classes, Classes, Classes

It's all go in the shop this week, lots of wedding stationery being hand-crafted, all prepped and ready for the Craft Night on Thursday and we have a few classes coming up that we think you might be interested in...

Firstly, next Saturday, Charlotte will be teaching a much-requested Bind-It-All class, she'll be showing that you can do more with this fab tool than just make books - this is a great fun class, and a great opportunity to try-before-you-buy.
So if you fancy joining our very own Bind-It-All Princess, Charlotte, then call the shop on 01224 802337 to reserve your place.

The following weekend sees the return of our popular beginners classes from Debbi Glennie, this time, as well as doing a Beginners Promarker and Flexmarker class, she is also doing an Introduction to waterbased markers class. People are often afraid of watercolour, but the waterbased markers from letraset including Aquamarkers, Metallic Markers and Neon Markers make it far more approachable. Debbi will be showing you how to quickly and easily watercolour silhouette stamps as well as creating beautiful backgrounds for a range of projects.
Again, just give the shop a call to reserve your place on either or both these classes.

Weekend Round Up

A week has gone by since the craft retreat, can you believe it?  But, the dust doesn't settle for long, because this weekend, Kath Stewart made a return visit on Saturday for the first of Kath's Klub Classes.

In the morning class, crafters made three stunning cards ...

In the afternoon class, the crafters made this stunning Tag Book Project ... and isn't the ribbon adorable on this tag book!

And as a fantastic added bonus, the stamps used in Kath's Klub Classes, are yours to keep and included in the cost of the classes!

If you would like to reserve your place on the next Kath's Klub Classes, please call The Papeterie on 01224 802337.  The next classes run on the 18th May.

On Sunday, our very own Charlotte ran a Do-it-Yourself Wedding Class.  Charlotte was joined by several brides-to-be (and some Mums too), who are keen to make their own wedding stationery.  They were shown lots of techniques and given lots of inspiration to enable them to create their own stationery.

This Thursday, 18th April, is our next Craft Night.  Come along to our fun evening where you can create up to 5 projects, all for just £10.  We provide a free buffet and refreshments and
all attendees will receive 10% discount on their purchases on the night.  Give The Papeterie a call to see if there are still places available.

What's coming next...

All is calm again after the mad build up to the Craft Retreat, but there's no rest for us evil minions in the shop. Now we're gearing up for some of our fabulous summer events.

The first craft celebrity we have the pleasure of welcoming this year is the fantabulous Nikky Hall - we already have some of Nikky's fab Studio 12 stamps in stock and we can't wait to see her fab demonstration on Saturday 11th May. Places are filling up fast for Nikky's workshop on Sunday 12th May, so remember to call the shop on 01224 802337 to secure your place (we require a £5 deposit). Nikky will be launching 2 sets of exclusive "Nikky Hall at the Papeterie" stamps at her demo.

We also have Spellbinder Queen Sue Wilson coming on the 6th July - we will be recording a DVD of her visit and demo on the day and this will be sold for £6 each with profits going to our chosen charity Archway. You can pre-order your copy by telephoning the shop on 01224 802337.

July is going to be super busy with another visit from the inimitable Barbara Gray from Clarity Stamps on the 12th July. Barbara will be officially launching a new range of Scottish stamps at this demo. No need to book for this, or any of our demos - just come along on the day, remember though that our celebrity days are busy
.
In August the Papeterie goes on tour..... but the evil mastermind won't let me tell you any more than that at the moment. I will try to sneak some more info to you when she's not looking ;)

And in September we will be holding our 3rd Craft Retreat - places fill up very fast for these, so don't waste any time getting in touch to find out more. The retreat will be held on the weekend of 14/15th September.

And if you can't wait for all these - then we have loads of classes and workshops going on - just check out the class page.

The Craft Retreat has arrived!

After months of preparation, the big weekend had finally arrived - the craft retreat had begun!

On Friday evening there was a meet and greet at the Airport Thistle for crafters who were staying at the hotel, time for some fine dining and a good blether!

Saturday morning arrived as did many crafters from near and far!  It was nice to see some crafters return and was lovely to see some new faces too!  Time for a quick cuppa and a favourite local delicacy, an Aberdeen buttery!

Saturday saw classes run by Charlotte, Kath, Erika and Debbi.  Looking at the lovely creations that were made, it is easy to see how much enjoyment the crafters got from their workshops!

Here are some of the projects from Saturday ...

There were messy paints to play with ...

Some gorgeous Tim Holtz products ...

Some Spellbinders creations ...

Debbi's Gorjuss/Promarker/Flexmarker Journal...

Some more messy paints and PaperArtsy stamps ...

And some girly grunge with distress pains ...

Must not forget to thank Jenny Mitchell (Charlotte's Grandma) for the delicious buffet lunch, I think over-indulged!
Of course, we  did it all again on Sunday!

Debbi's alcohol inks class ...

Kath's Messy Masks ...

Erika's stamping techniques ...

Debbi's water-based marker class ...

So a huge thank you to everyone who attended, from everyone at The Papeterie - all attendees have already received their invitation to the next Craft Retreat in September. For everyone else, keep your eyes peeled for details coming soon.
