Goodness me, that's another week in - and it just gets busier :)

We have managed to finalise some classes and demos that are coming up in the shop between now and the end of the year - you'll find all the info by clicking here. We have 3 more craft nights and a special charity diecutting machine night, classes from Debbi, more kath's Klub workshops, kids halloween classes and more.

We would also like to thank everyone who nominated us in the Best Independent Store - Scotland category of the Crafts Beautiful Craft Awards 2013 - we were thrilled when we heard we had been nominated.
Voting has now opened - so if you would like to see us win this award then pop along to the Crafts Beautiful page to cast your votes. Not only could you win a stash of prizes from all the winners, but if you look out for the feature in the Crafts Beautiful magazine we've placed a very special offer in our advert as a special thankyou to everyone who votes for us.

Is it Christmas yet?

You may wonder what I mean by the title of this blog, but this week we have been surrounded by boxes and boxes of new crafty goodies, many of which are Christmas!  There are so many boxes we are still in the process of pricing all these lovely goodies but Debbi is on the case and they will all be on our shelves very soon!

We have had taken delivery of felt, foam, glitters, Christmas card/envelope packs, glitter peel offs, tools from Xcut, glues, wax seals, boxes of colouring pencils, Christmas stamps and lots more!

Also this week, Pearl and Charlotte have been incredibly busy cutting card and paper for our shelves, 2 pallets of stock!  Lots of lovely colours on the shelves, nice greens and reds for Christmas too, good time to stock up for all those Christmas cards you may be planning!

On Sunday, there was more Christmas!  The fabulous Erika Gunter arrived for a day of Christmas demos using products available from the Papeterie !  This was very well attended, Erika barely had time for a short break.

Here are the cards that Erika made, if you pop along to Erika's blog, you can look out for step by step instructions for these.

PS. Charlotte has been away this week attending a fabulous workshop for retailers with the amazing Tim Holtz, how lucky is Charlotte!  Hopefully Charlotte will be sharing some of her projects with us when she returns from her holidays.

Playtime with the Melt Pot!

On Saturday Kath Stewart paid us a visit for a wonderful morning of demonstrations using the wonderful Melt Pot.  I only wish I hadn't been working because I missed how Kath made such beautiful works of art and stunning pieces of jewellery.

In the afternoon, there were more Melt Pot deliciousness when Kath was joined by fellow crafters for some make and takes.  Two of our regular crafters who came along, travelled all the way from Inverness and Elgin to join in.  It was great to catch up with the lovely Tina and Joyce (and what a great time we all had when we went out for tea at the end of the day, lots of laughs).

In between the Melt Pot madness, Kath managed to squeeze in some demonstrations with the Fiskars Fuse.  The items that Kath has made with this fantastic piece of equipment are just gorgeous!

In the shop today, we were knee deep in deliveries, lots and lots of gorgeous altered art goodies (you may even get some clues as to what may be used in the September Retreat).

Finally, there are a couple of spaces left on the Craft Retreat, so don't delay if you fancy joining us.  Give us a call on 01224 802337 to book a place.

Candy Cart Hire

I'm back again with another update on the going-ons in the shop.

It's been a busy week, but I managed to squeeze in a couple of days off at the beginning of the week, so I missed the kid's class which Debbi ran on Tuesday, this was the busiest class by far and sadly the last one of the summer holidays, can you believe it's almost time for the kids to go back to school?  Where have the weeks gone?

It's been hectic with weddings this week.  This seems to be a busy period for table plans, order of service etc, often with a tight time schedule to stick to!

Speaking of weddings, we thought we would share with you some pictures of our wonderful candy cart all set up for a wedding at the Caledonian Thistle.

Doesn't it look stunning?  If you are interested in hiring the candy cart for a wedding or function, give us a call on 01224 802337 to arrange!

This coming Saturday, the 17th August, our very own Kath Stewart will be popping along to do some free demonstrations with the fabulous Melt Pot on Saturday morning from 10 am until noon.  Why not come along and see what all the fuss is about.  If you wish to try it out before you buy, Kath with be running Melt Pot Make and Takes in the afternoon from 1 - 3 pm (there will be a small cost) there is no need to book a place, just pop along and join in the fun!  I'm looking forward to seeing what you all make!

A wee reminder that we are racing towards the Craft Retreat on 13 - 15 September, not many weeks to go now!  The class lists are out, and if you've not made your choices, please do so soon!  You will find the class choices here.  There are still a few places available, if you are tempted, give us a call on 01224 802337 to enquire.

Finally, just to update you on our charity DVD that was made when Sue Wilson came to visit.  The DVD's are going out in batches (and there are several hundered orders), so please be patient.  The DVD comes in 2 discs because there is so much footage, so there are lots of man hours involved in this process.  If we have your payment details already, you will only be charged when your DVD is getting despatched, if we don't have your details yet, you will be receiving a phone call to get these details from you.  Once all the orders have gone out, we will be able to announce how much was raised for Archway.  We must also thank the IT department for all their help in producing this DVD and Arjo Wiggins for covering the cost of the postage!  You can still order a copy by phoning the shop to place an order.

Kids, Christmas and Weddings!

First of all, I must apologise.  I promised photos of the project made at the kid's class on Tuesday, but I forgot!  We painted  wooden clocks (on sale in the shop), added a coloured image, some fancy buttons and some fabulous Card Candi, they were great!

So from kids on Tuesday, to vintage Christmas on Saturday!  That was the theme for Charlotte's card-making class on Saturday afternoon.  Four vintage-themed Christmas cards were made in the class using stamps, Spellbinder dies and ribbons.  What came out of the class was that some customers would like some more practice cutting with paper trimmers/guillotines and help making different shapes of card, so watch this space!

On top of these classes, we have been incredibly busy with wedding stationery and new samples!  The wedding season is in full swing and that means lots of  order of service, table plans, place names, table toppers, menus and guest books!  We had awesome place names etc going out last week with a New York theme (I can tell you that now because the wedding was on Saturday), they were amazing!

Wedding stationery is not all we do however, we are busy doing even more invitations for the British Airways Ball, they are simply stunning!

This week, we have the last kid's class of the summer holidays on Tuesday, there is still room for more if you would like a place booked.  Call us on 01224 802337 to book.

This Saturday our very own Debbi will be teaching a Christmas card workshop in the morning and in the afternoon a bit more Christmas using alcohol inks!  There are still some places on these classes, so if you wish to book a place, give us a call.  The morning class runs from 10 am - noon and the afternoon class is from 1 - 3 pm.  The cost of each class is £15.

We have also released a further 10 spaces for our Autumn Craft Retreat - the class choices have been made and we have loads to suit everyone. The retreat is suitable for all levels of expertise and we have a great mix of papercrafts and mixed media. Keep your eyes peeled for more info coming soon. To secure your place, give us a call on 01224 802337 or email thepapeterie@gmail.com.
